How to Write a Good eBay Listing & Bulk Adding Handling Time to Your eBay Ads

Dear eBay Queen;

I was wondering if you could help me advertise my first listing on eBay. I purchased a brand new, sealed in the original box, Samsung g600 mobile phone from a seller (on eBay) in April of 2009. I have only opened the box to unlock the mobile phone, and install the latest firmware/software on it. I have not used the phone since then.

I have decided to sell the phone because, for the time being, I am happy with my Nokia 6230i. Is there any way you would be able to explain how to re-word this listing for me? I feel a little uncomfortable doing it. I buy lots of things on eBay, I have never sold anything.

I completely understand being a bit nervous placing your first item up for sale on eBay. Here is what you should include in your eBay ad:

1. Description

a. Features or specs on the unit. Here is a website where you can check to see the specifications of the phone: www.gsmarena.com/samsung_g600-2039.php You could simply copy and paste the specifications into your eBay ad from this website.

b. Does it work? Is it unlocked?

c. Condition is it used or new?

d. Are there any scratches or defects?

e. What accessories does the phone come with?

2. Auction Terms

a. How fast do you ship?

b. What is your refund policy?

c. How will you pack the items?

I did a search for this phone on eBay. I see that the bulk of them that are new are being listed at a buy it now of about $230.00 to about 260.00. would check to see how others are listing their phones for sale. You might get some ideas on the wording they used. You don’t want to copy and paste their ad or photos, as those are subject to copy write infringement. You also need to make sure you include quality photos. You should include a photo of the phone by itself, and one of the phone with the accessories and box. If there is any damage to the phone make sure you note that in your description and provide a photo of the damage.

Dear eBay Queen;

I noticed on a discussion board that I need to add a handling time to all of my listings by May. I sell mostly books using media mail. How do you suggest I complying with this new requirement?

I would appreciate some examples. I don’t like to make my listings too long-winded. Once I have my verbiage, is there an easy way to add handling time all at once to all my listings? Thanks for your help.

Handling time is really just an estimate for how long it will take for the item to get you’re your hands to their hands. For more information on eBay’s Handling Policy, you can go here: http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/contextual/domestic-handling-time.html

I don’t think you need to change all of your listings. You just need to specify it in the auction specifics on your "My eBay Active Selling page". To change all your listings at once, go to your Active Selling page on "My eBay".

1. Check the box to the right of each listing

2. Click "Edit" at the top of the page.

3. This brings you to the Edit Listing Page

4. Check the box for Handling Time under the Domestic Shipping category

5. Click on "Edit listings in bulk" at the bottom of the page and click continue.

6. Then specify your handling time from the drop down menu, and continue.

7. Click "Submit" on the final page.

It is very easy to update this way. When it comes to wording, I’ve seen some people say "I ship the same day of your order if you pay before 3:00PM" and others who say "Product ships Media Mail, and will arrive 4-14 days from shipment".
