Crock Pot Beef Carbonnade So Good.. So Simple
When I made this.. it was out of desperation. I didn’t have much on the pantry shelves, and only slightly remembered some kind of fancy named food called Beef Carbonnade. Which is basically a super rich beer stew. I only took a photo of the finished product.. because I was pretty sure it would be a flop… but it wasn’t
Here’s what you need:
1 bottle of brown beer. (I used Sam Adams Autumn Ale)
2lbs of round steak, flank, or roast meat
1 8oz can of tomato paste
2 onions sliced thin
1 cup flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 1/2 cups beef broth or stock
Salt and pepper to taste
Throw all the ingredients into your slow cooker (except the meat).. mix together, making sure the tomato paste and flour is incorporated. Add the meat, cover and cook for 6+ hours.
When it’s finished serve over wide noodles OR over mashed potatoes. I added some homemade sweet onion rings to the top of mine.
Homemade Enchilada Sauce
I like enchiladas.. but I’m really picky about the sauce. I did a little research and knocked out this little number.. Try it! It’s super easy to make and tastes AWESOME!
Suzie’s Enchilada Sauce
8 ounce can tomato Sauce
1/2 tsp cumin
1 tsp chili powder
1tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp red pepper
2 heaping tbs cocoa
3/4 cup water
1. Mix together over medium heat. Add more seasoning for if you like it a little spicier.
Here’s what you need to make this sauce.. cumin, garlic powder,
chili powder, ground red pepper, cocoa (yes.. cocoa), water and tomato sauce
How easy is that? Please ignore the 2 freak shows.. they always beg
for food.. even before it’s made.
Add Sauce, water, and seasoning in a pan…
Don’t forget the cocoa! It really makes the sauce taste great!
Dump the warm sauce over beef enchiladas..
Here’s a little insight to the world I live in. There are approximately
20 enchilada’s in this pan… and 2 don’t have cheese in them.
One of my children thinks cheese is evil.. the others love the stuff.
Try this sauce out sometime.. it’s super easy and customizable to your own taste!
I'm not a chef. I'm not professionally trained in anything (except eBay). I do love to cook for my family. The food you'll find here is stuff I make for my family. I hope you will find something here you will want to make!
