A Rant about Walmart & Customer Service
Friday I went to our local Wal-mart to buy a few things.. mostly a brisket to make THIS. My trip was uneventful.. I bought some groceries… and what I thought were 3 short sleeve T-shirts for myself. The T-shirts were all stacked on the same little kiosk thing in the same place. What I didn’t know until I got home was I mistakenly bought 2 tank tops and 1 T-shirt. If you’ve ever seen my arms you’d know I am not Michelle Obama.
So I put them back in the sack to return them.
Here is my Walmart receipt… Do you see anything wrong with it?
This part is missing…
Remember how I said my trip was uneventful? Apparently I was wrong. It was my cashier’s first day. She mistakenly ripped my receipt.. So today when I went to return the shirts… my torn receipt became a “not valid” receipt.
I explain to the people in customer service that I have a receipt.. they tell me it’s not valid. I point at the receipt and say.. “Look here are the 2 tank tops!” I get the “I’m sorry it’s not valid.” Then she explains to me she can give me a gift card. Over and over in my head I’m thinking I have a receipt. I finally get a “customer service manager” to explain to me that I am missing apart of the receipt. (why the 1st chick didn’t do that I have no idea)
I told CSM what happened on Friday. She tells me that they don’t know if I bought those tank tops in the last 90 days or not (even though I just said I bought them Friday). I remind her that this is Kansas.. and we’ve had 22 inches of snow this last 90 days alone.. and perhaps Wal-mart in KANSAS doesn’t sell tank tops year round. While we were discussing Kansas and year round tank tops, I dug through my purse and found the torn end… they gave me my WHOLE $12.00 back.. and I left ticked off.
In case you wondered… Here’s Wal-Mart’s Return Policy
Springs On the Way!
It’s been a cold snowy winter here in Kansas, but today it was 54 degrees (#1 even went out and dug a new garden for me.. she’s cool like that). I had a blog all planned out about Etsy stuff.. when I looked through a photo album titled “SPRING” and saw these photos I took last year.
These are my butterfly bushes, that I THINK I planted too close to the house.
I didn’t realize they would get SO large and in the next year they
might overtake the area they are in!.

When I bought them I purchased this fuchsia colored one..
and this dark purple one. I was thinking about buying a few more
to put closer to the driveway. I checked out eBay and they have 149
butterfly bushes up for sale. Have you ever bought plants on eBay?
(send me a note or comment..I’d like to know your experience)
Now that I think about it.. it would be just like buying plants through
a mail order catalog..right? Happy Spring!
Peckham’s Pumpkin Patch.. Here We Come!
Something came over me Saturday and I decided to venture outside. (I’m not really an outdoor kind of girl) We headed to Peckham’s Pumpkin Patch in Rantoul, KS. If you haven’t been there.. you should go! They have tons of things for the family to do; mazes, slides, water races, chili cook offs!.. ohh.. and pumpkins.
Check out this wart-y number..

They have these huge tube slides that all the kids loved! #4 is just sure The Man
is going to install one at our house.

Here’s #1 getting ready to try out the slide.

#1 made it out OK!

#4 loved it!

Who’s this dude? We’ll just call him #.5 for now.

We loaded up the family and went in search of pumpkin.

And guess what.. We found some ..

Here’s The Man and #4 looking for the perfect pumpkin..
but what’s that?.. could that be #3? she’s approaching her father..
I bet she’s going to get him to carry her pumpkin for her.

Yes.. I believe that’s what she did!

What’s that #3? You forgot the rule of pumpkin patches everywhere?
"If you can’t carry the pumpkin you need a different one?"
Obviously #3 operates on a different set of rules.. like.. I’ll make my dad carry my pumpkins…

Look! #5 found a pumpkin.. (and he can carry it)

I’m glad they found a wagon!

This pumpkin looked like a good one to me.

Here’s #1, #.5, #2 and The Man.. on our hay ride back to the car.

#4 thought he was a real country boy with some hay in his mouth.

Here’s the cover of our Thanksgiving Card…. if you don’t get it.. please accept
this as my "Happy Thanksgiving" to you
This is Mr. Peckham.. If you go to his pumpkin patch.. he will show you a good time!
Cute hat too!
Here’s our Pumpkin Loot (oh and some juice jugs too)
Top 5 Things I Want on eBay OR I need Some Jadite..
I love Jadite.. It doesn’t have to be Fire King.. or even the old stuff. I’ve been thinking about making this cabinet my mother in law gave me… an “all Jadite” shelf in my dining room.
Currently it holds some green stuff.. and a small portion of my pig collection..
It REALLY needs some of this Jadite…
1. Vintage McKee Jadite Roman Arch Shakers eBay item #280462231107 eBay Seller downsizer817
Here’s what they say about it:
These are the McKee depression era Roman Arch Shakers. They measure 4 1/4″ tall with the lids on. They are guaranteed old. They glow under black light. The bottom of Salt is marked with a very faint McK in circle, and Flour marked with a very faint “PAT. APPLD FOR”. The items in the last two pictures are listed in other auctions.
CONDITION is excellent, very glossy and without chips or cracks, very smooth rims. The lids are in very good condition but I think they are not all original. There are some typical swirls and mold lines and minor straw marks in the glass. The lettering is all very strong and solid, except top of first e in pepper. The shakers are a nice match in coloring as a set. The color variations seen from picture to picture is due to different lighting and the use of the flash on the camera. This set includes the SPICE shaker, and makes a beautiful display. Difficult to get all 5 shakers in one set.
SALT - very little bit of inner rim roughness, and some very minor wear on bottom, lettering solid & strong, bottom is marked with a very faint McK in circle. PEPPER – slight fading at top of first “e”, otherwise lettering is all very strong and solid, smooth rims. FLOUR – very little bit of inner rim roughness, lettering is very strong and solid, bottom is marked with a very faint “PAT. APPLD FOR”. SUGAR – smooth rims, strong solid lettering. SPICE – smooth rims, strong solid lettering, pinpoint shallow nick at the base of one arch on the side, not noticeable, only found it by feeling it.
We have other pieces of Vintage Kitchen Ware, Jeannette Delphite and Jadite Depression Glass listed also, some of which are shown in the last two pictures.
