I asked #2 what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday. Before I tell you his answer…  I should tell you.. that I dedicated one whole summer to learning how to make a good cake and the perfect butter cream frosting.  (this is one of the reasons I’m so chubby)  Did he pick my chocolate devils food with  coconut butter cream? or maybe the Reece’s dark chocolate cake with peanut butter butter cream frosting? or the yellow cake with Special Dark chocolate butter cream? NO..  He picked a box cake mix.. called “Funfetti”

I don’t have anything against Pillsbury.. I don’t have anything against boxed cake mixes.. They are convenient and delicious.. BUT if your mother offers you homemade why do you pick a box?

Here’s proof I’m a bad mother..  we didn’t have any candles.. except 2 and

well the kid is 14.

I did “mom it up” by making a 3 layer cake into a 6 layer cake. I

made Special Dark Chocolate butter cream frosting.. instead of using

store bought.  So at least I feel like I added a little love into the cake.

Isn’t it ugly?  Secretly it was pretty good.  Don’t tell anyone.
