Order and Discipline in the Church
1. How does I Corinthians 14:40 say things should be done in the Church?
The Bible teaches that Christians in the Church are to work together as a team, just as the parts of a healthy human body do. This means that there has to be order and discipline in the Church. There must be agreement on what it is supposed to be accomplished. There must be organization, in which each member has certain jobs to do. There has to be leadership, to make sure that the rules, purposes and plans are clear, and confusion and mistakes are corrected. There has to be respect for the leaders and for all members.
2. According to the first part of Hebrews 13:17, how should Christians behave toward the leaders of the Church?
Through the Bible, God has given us a foundation for order in the Church, by naming certain types of leaders, or officers, such as elders (I Peter 5:1). But He has also left room for some freedom and variety in the details of that organization, in order to enable the Church to do its job in different circumstances at different times and places in human history. Churches need to be able to adapt their form of organization to minister most effectively in the changing circumstances of the world around them.
3. What does Galatians 6:1 say we should do if a fellow Christian commits a sin?
As a church member, you should know how your own congregation is organized, so that you can participate in its activities and in its government in a responsible and knowledgeable way.
4. How does Galatians 6:2 say Christians should act toward one another?
5. What does Colossians 3:13 say we should do if we have a complaint or grievance against another Christian?
6. What would happen to the Church if there were no rules, teamwork, or leadership, and everybody just did whatever they felt like all the time?
7. How can church members work together as a united, effective team?
8. Name the session members of our church:
9. Name some committees or groups that help make our church run.

The Sacraments: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
There are two actions that Jesus commanded His followers to perform, as signs that they belong to Him: Baptism, and The Lord’s Supper. They are not private actions, which individuals perform alone, but actions that Christians perform together, on certain occasions, in keeping with the teaching of the Bible. For many centuries, Christians have called these actions or ceremonies Sacraments. However, that word is not found in the Bible; it came into use later on, and comes from an old Latin word that means “that which binds or obligates a person.”
1. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus tells us to go and make disciples of all nations, and to _____________ the in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
2. In Acts 16:27-34 it tells how a jailer in the city of Philippi accepted Christ as his Savior and Lord. In verse 33, it says that after he took them and washed their wounds, he and all his family (or household) were _________________________.
3. What happens in a Baptismal ceremony?
The second special action that Jesus commanded His followers to perform is called The Lord’s Supper, or Holy Communion. It is a re-enactment of that last Supper that Jesus had with His disciples before He was crucified. Since that was a celebration of the Jewish Passover feast, it is also a kind of re-enactment of the Passover.
5. In John 6:35, what does Jesus say that He is?
6. Read I Corinthians 11:23-25, and then answer the following questions:
What did Jesus Say the bread was?
What did Jesus say the cup was?
7. What are some of the different ways that Christians have of performing Baptism? Which one do you think is best according to the Bible and why?
Confirmation Class: Defeating the Spiritual Enemy

Defeating the Spiritual Enemy
Where does all the evil in the world really come from? Is it just from human beings, or is there another source of evil-one that we need to be aware of, and learn to cope with?
1. According to James 4:7, how should we behave toward God?
The Bible tells us that there is, indeed, another source of evil: a supernatural enemy of God and His kingdom. He rules over millions of evil spirits, or demons. The Bible also calls them principalities, powers and other names.
2. The devil is called many names can you name any of them?
3. How should we behave toward the devil?
4. According to Ephesians 6:11-12, who are the real enemies that we have to fight against?
Many people do not believe that the devil really exists. This gives him a big advantage over them, because he and his demons can attack them without being recognized or resisted. The Bible makes it clear that the devil and his demons really do exist. Jesus Himself said so many times because He wants His disciples to be able to overcome the devil, instead of being overcome by him.
5. In Luke 9:1, over whom did Jesus give His disciples authority?
We must be careful not to have the wrong idea about the devil. He is not a man in a red suit with horns and a tail, carrying a pitchfork. He is a spirit. The Bible tells us something about where he came from, what he is like, and what will happen to him in the end.
6. In Mark 1:39, as Jesus went through Galilee, what was He doing besides preaching in the synagogues?
7. In IPeter 5:8-9, who is our enemy who prowls around like a roaring lion? How should we act toward him?
There are two main things Christians need to learn in this area:
A) The first is how to recognize the ways in which the devil and his evil spirits work. They are, to put it simply, very sneaky. They always practice deception; they use many forms of trickery and camouflage. Jesus called the devil “a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44). They try to infiltrate your mind without being noticed, and plant temptations, bad feelings, and corrupt thoughts and ideas. We need to be aware of their tactics.
B) The second is how to defeat the devil and his evil spirits. The power that God has made available to us, through Jesus Christ, is much greater than the power of the devil. Using the weapons of faith.
