White Nursing Dresses.. they aren’t just for Nurses

Last year (around this time) I lucked into finding around 100 different nurses dresses. You know the kind that nurses used to wear.. before there were scrubs?

These were brand new with tags, and hadn’t see the light of day in years. So what’s an eBay Queen to do? I bought them of course! I knew I would put them on eBay, but I had no idea that there was such a market for Nurse uniforms! Some of my uniforms were bought for the opening bid of 19.99 with free shipping and others went for $75-$100. I had some buyers want them for what they are, nurse uniforms and others that wanted them for work dresses, that they were going to alter in some way.

My biggest eBay buyers were men that wanted to look like this:

This just goes to show you.. you never know when something as simple as a nurses uniform will turn into cash.



My Dog is an idiot.. and I am his Master

I need to tell you.. sometime last year I received a message through eBay about my dog. (Yes.. MY DOG) I’ve talked about Porky before. He’s a good dog, very protective of my children and our home…. but apparently he has a few secrets.

Here he is looking innocent..

So, the email (through eBay’s email system) was from my neighbor up the road. She was letting me know her dog was in a family way, and she felt my dog was the father. I was a little freaked out. We discussed our dogs, and I let her know that I wasn’t sure my dog (which is pretty tall) probably couldn’t get to her dog (which reminded me of a cross between a Welsh Corgi and a Labrador) pregnant. For those of you that don’t know what a Welsh Corgi is.. go here. She was pretty sure it was Porky, and not the other dogs that roam around the country out here.

After church today I saw the dogs on the way home. I’ll let you decided if they are Porky’s or not.

Porky is about about 5 to 6 inches taller than the tallest dog. But the shorter one looks

about the height of their mother.

So.. What do you think? Are these dogs part Dogue de Bordeaux AKA French Mastiff? If these are Porky’s puppies do I owe child support?

The Ghost of Thumb Rings Past

I’ve told you about my crazy right handed wedding ring

Here’s a lovely photo of it..

I don’t think I’ve ever told you about my haunted thumb ring… It was probably 10 years ago, on warm summer Friday night. I went to an auction. Not just any auction, one of Buddy Griffin’s auctions.

The auction was almost over, and Buddy held up a simple gold wedding band that was found in the back of a night stand. He didn’t know who it belonged too, but assumed it was the elderly woman who had passed away years ago and her children were finally selling her house and it’s contents.

Here’s the ring.

Buddy started the bidding out at $25.00, no one flinched or made a bid. He dropped it to $5.00; I bid and won! When I bid I thought I would sell it on eBay; but after the ring man (HA that sounds like a pun.. but it’s not) gave it to me, slipped it on my thumb and that’s where it’s been ever since.

There is always something a little sad about auctions to me. You know… people selling their stuff.

This ring kind of personifies that to me. I couldn’t believe NO one wanted this woman’s wedding ring. I found out that she had been married 62 years, and her husband had died a few years before her. I couldn’t bring myself to sell it because well.. I’m a sentimental old cow..
