No Good, Horrible, Rotten Day

If today was a smell.. it would be a skunk.. or Limburger cheese.   And then it suddenly improved…

This greeted me at my front door… and holding these beautiful

flowers was this…

How sweet that #4 and The Man knew my day was smelling something

close to skunks and they brought me flowers.  The flowers are Hyacinths..

If you’ve smelled a hyacinth you know how wonderful they smell…

nothing at all like Limburger Cheese.

Peckham’s Pumpkin Patch.. Here We Come!

Something came over me Saturday and I decided to venture outside. (I’m not really an outdoor kind of girl) We headed to Peckham’s Pumpkin Patch in Rantoul, KS. If you haven’t been there.. you should go! They have tons of things for the family to do; mazes, slides, water races, chili cook offs!.. ohh.. and pumpkins.

Check out this wart-y number..

They have these huge tube slides that all the kids loved! #4 is just sure The Man

is going to install one at our house.

Here’s #1 getting ready to try out the slide.

#1 made it out OK!

#4 loved it!

Who’s this dude? We’ll just call him #.5 for now.

We loaded up the family and went in search of pumpkin.

And guess what.. We found some ..

Here’s The Man and #4 looking for the perfect pumpkin..

but what’s that?.. could that be #3? she’s approaching her father..

I bet she’s going to get him to carry her pumpkin for her.

Yes.. I believe that’s what she did!

What’s that #3? You forgot the rule of pumpkin patches everywhere?

“If you can’t carry the pumpkin you need a different one?”

Obviously #3 operates on a different set of rules.. like.. I’ll make my dad carry my pumpkins…

Look! #5 found a pumpkin.. (and he can carry it)

I’m glad they found a wagon!

This pumpkin looked like a good one to me.

Here’s #1, #.5, #2 and The Man.. on our hay ride back to the car.

#4 thought he was a real country boy with some hay in his mouth.

Here’s the cover of our Thanksgiving Card…. if you don’t get it.. please accept

this as my “Happy Thanksgiving” to you 🙂

This is Mr. Peckham.. If you go to his pumpkin patch.. he will show you a good time!

Cute hat too!

Here’s our Pumpkin Loot (oh and some juice jugs too)

Sir Fix-A-Lot and I Got a Thing Goin’ On..

Eighteen years ago I wasn’t so crazy about The Man.  I thought he was kind of nerdy, and wore his shorts to short and the only shirts he wore were button up western type shirts.  I could not IMAGINE spending my life with him.  My mother however, saw something else in him.  She saw through the weird clothes.  She kept telling me.. “He’s a great guy!”  “He’s in love with you!” (she said this after our 3rd date) “You can change his clothes! But you can’t change what a great guy he is!”  and my favorite: “He can fix anything! Do you know what that means to people like us Suzie?”  (She always said “people like us”, I’m not sure what that means.)

Last week our pipe under the kitchen sink broke.. and guess what…The Man fixed it!

That’s a pretty big hole don’t you think?

I’m really glad my mother kept telling me to give him a chance.  He handles stuff I don’t want to deal with (like throw up and car care).  You can set a watch by his movements, and he’s easy to please… most of the time.  I also like that he can fix almost anything I throw at him… which seems like something every week.  I also love when I tell him that my mother said “he was in love with me on our 3rd date” and he just looks at me and says;  “Whhhaaatttt.  That’s YES in Man talk.

I went to a Christmas Party and a Fight Broke Out..

Sunday we went to The Man’s parents house to celebrate Christmas with them.  I affectionately call my mother and father in law Ward and June Cleaver.  I’ve done this because The Man has always referred to his childhood as living the life of The Cleavers.. you know the show “Leave it to Beaver” ?

I don’t know if you can see Sam (he’s the cat with the green arrow above his head).

This photo reminds me of him being a “basement cat” from that cute site Icanhascheezburger.

The day started out great… the stockings were hung…

The men were relaxing.  That’s The Man and his baby brother.. oh and

#2’s there in the back and black.

Here’s #4 and his uncle.  They are pretty cute huh?

(oh and they both are single… 🙂 You’ll have to wait a while for #4 though)

It was a pretty normal family Christmas party.. trees, stockings, food, family.. until we got

to the presents.  Here’s #2.. nothing too weird here.

We have #4 opening is rocket ship.. This kid loves space.  He’s going to be

the first kid from our little town on the Moon.

Here’s #4 and his uncle “the punk” playing with the rocket..

Then we came to #5.. he’s been wanting one of these for a LONG time.

He loves Transformers, and this Bumblebee Voice Changer Helmet is

a perfect gift for this kid.

Here #2 and my mother in law “June” (without the pearls and heels)

watching  the festivities.

Wait.. what’s this? It looks like #4 has found something..

Could it be?  Did #5 leave the Bumblebee helmet UNATTENDED?

Holy Smokes.. #4 has been spotted with the helmet. That blur there is

#5 coming over to get his helmet back.  Can you see the Bumblebee

Transformer car he dropped on the floor?

He’s not happy…

He’s working  up to throwing a fit…

inlawxmas18Wait.. The Man busts into the room to save the day…

Peace and Order is restored and #4 gave him the helmet back.  Whew…

melt down diverted to another day.
