Finding the Perfect Kitchen Light.. Can it be found on Etsy or eBay?

We’ve lived in our house for about 9 years.  The Man and I designed the house  and built it thinking it would be complete and finished 6 months to a year after we built it.  Almost 9 years has gone by and we are still living in a house without knobs on the cabinets, properly set doors and landscaping, as in NO landscaping.

The Man is really good with all things electrical.  Putting up lights and the thought of being shocked doesn’t phase him… except the light in my kitchen.  For some reason he’s just doesn’t want to tackle that.  (it’s partially my fault.)  I don’t want you to think we don’t have a light in the kitchen, because we do.  It’s just we have a plain Jane kind of fixture and I want a fancier one.  What I would like for it to look like is this:

The man says that he would have to put extra holes in the ceiling to make this kind of light work.  (I would like multiple pendant lights.(

So here are a few “single” lights I’ve picked out.

Like this light?  You can get it on eBay! Go HERE

I love this pot rack type light.  I just don’t have any nice looking pots to hang from it.  My mother-in-law has one of these and she has beautiful copper pans and vintage copper things hanging from it.

Can you see the copper pots hanging there in the background?

This light fixture is on eBay to see it go HERE

I like this light a lot.. but I’m not sure if it will give the same amount of light that I am getting now.

These are re-purposed Blue Glass Insulators.  They are being sold on

Etsy.  Check them out HERE

These do not  meet The Man’s guidelines of  using  the existing electrical hole.  But I still really like the “vintage-y” feel to them.

Canning Jar Pendant Lights.  by emmajeansdreams Check it out HERE

I really like these, they are vintage-y and I think they only have one light “hole”.

Pienza 5 light Lamp Check it out HERE

I love this light.. but I’m not sure it will give off enough light.

So which is your favorite?

Here’s my “Bonus” Light 🙂

Handmade Esty Venetian Light Check it out HERE

This light would be perfect in my upstairs hallway… We have already purchased the fixtures for up there.  He hasn’t put those up yet. ..but that’s another blog for another day.

Are Hat’s Cool? Should I wear one?

Last night I saw a strange site while running my children around Ottawa.. of course I didn’t have my camera ready.. and I was well, driving.

There was a woman walking out of the Franklin County Courthouse and she

had on the most fabulous hat.

(note.. this is a photo I took in the spring. I REALLY didn’t have my camera)

The mysterous hat woman of Franklin County Kansas started me thinking about wearing hats. I’m not really a hat wearer.. but if I was.. I would buy these.

1. This is a 1940’s Cocoa Straw Tilt Hat. I love the color.. the tilt-iness of it. (Is tilt-iness a word?) Here’s the link if you want to check it out: Cocoa Hat

2. Who doesn’t love a pink hat? I think it’s so cute! Antique 1910 Cloche Hat.

3. 1940’s Wide Brim Hat.. This one just might be my favorite. Huge Picture Hat

4. AAAHHH! I love this one.. I love the colors.. Flapper Hat with Beads

5. I wish this hat was on a head.. so we both could see how FABULOUS it really is. Vintage Pink Feather Hat

Why Didn’t This Sell? Everyone Needs a Cup Holder Lamp!

I have any idea why this didn’t sell. I mean really.. who doesn’t need a 1950’s cup holder lamp?

This is pretty cute right?

Cool Shade.. even laces up..

That little white spot is some goober from the camera.. It has no chips or cracks.

This is the worst thing.. the felt on the bottom was damaged.

I mean really.. who DOESN’T need a cup holder lamp? It’s so hip.. so cool..
