My Civic Duty…

american flag, one room school house

Just in case you've been living in a hole… It's Election Day! I've talked about where I vote before, but I thought I'd share the quaint one room school house that is my polling place.

This is the Briles School House… not only where I vote.. but also where I had my wedding reception.

I asked how busy it was today.. they said there were people waiting outside at 6:30AM. When I arrived at 4:30 the place was pretty much dead.

We did receive snappy new voting boothes this year. In years past we had these cool boothes with fabric closures on the back. They looked pretty old school. The ladies working were not crazy about these new booths.

I was surprised how FULL our ballots were this year. They were FRONT and BACK full.. top to bottom.

The GREAT SEAL of KANSAS…

I took photos the whole time I was there. I had a woman look at me like I was nuts.. so I explained to her that I blog. She muttered "Who would want to read about what she does all day?" I just smiled and thought.. "WHO WOULD want to read about what I do all day!"

Hey guess what… I voted 🙂 and I hope you did too!

Labor Day Auction..

Brandon had a sweet little sale today.. one thing about a Brandon

Otto auction.. he’s clear, fast and fair.

One of the best things about today’s auction was that it was held

under Wellsville’s large shade trees.

One of my pet peeves about going to an auction is

being late.  Today I left a little late.. and had to “fight”

to see stuff.  When I say fight I don’t mean really get in

an argument.. you just have to say lots of “excuse me”

and wait around to look at the jun

They had doors.. and lots of furniture..

I really wanted those platters..

See those beaded things?

I got them.. 🙂

There were probably 50 old hankies in here.. I bid on them,

but they went for over 60.00.

This is a tiny sample linens they had.. they all went pretty high too.

Lot’s of old Christmas stuff.

Faux fruit..

I really wanted this yellow cabinet.. #3 wanted the polka dot boxes.

(We didn’t get them)

I wanted the big flower print.. but I just couldn’t

pay the prices they were getting here today 🙂

Here’s #4 he found some cool leaves that have a fuzzy

feel to them.  In the background you can see #3 she’s

chatting it up about her American Girl Doll.. and the

new American Girl Store that opened in Overland Park..

(more to come on the American Girl store)

Here’s all of Brandon’s upcoming auctions!

**I forgot to take photos of all the junk I got!.. maybe I’ll get that done tomorrow!

Saturday’s A Good Day to Eat Pie.. and Work

Since The Man FAILED and didn’t take me to the Johnson

County Fair tomorrow.. maybe he’ll take me here.. This

Market Cafe is on Main Street in Ottawa.. and also has an

antique shop in it!

1. Wii Fit

2. List eBay Stuff ** this is my main goal**

3. Do something with #2′s hair.

4. Dinner=Lasagna and Garlic Bread

5. Fix pictures

Jewelry, Vintage Linens, Dishes and Lamps.. Oh MY!

Monday night I went to one of my favorite places… Strickers Auction in Gardner Kansas.

The red arrows are things I “won”.  Boxes of old linens, a green tote of papers.

strickers auctions

This is Jerry Stricker.. he’s a pretty cool guy.. and his

knowledge of stuff is unbelievable!

These arrows show more stuff I bought 🙂  The red arrows show some

silver plate and sterling flatware.  The green arrows show vintage linens,

Franciscan dinnerware, and the farthest arrow away is vintage clothing..

super cool vintage clothing I might add.. that my friend Bettye would love.

After buying outside.. we moved inside.  Here’s Ron Stricker (in the cowboy hat)

auctioning off a few baskets.

I wanted this lamp pretty bad.. but it sold for over $100.00.

I wanted these beaded flowers.. but I just couldn’t pay what everyone else

was paying for these…

I did get these Johnson Brothers Transferware dishes 🙂

Old pins, bakelite jewelry and a cigar box of men’s jewelry.  It will take me

awhile to go through this jewelry..
