Dear eBay Queen: My Buyer is a Drama Queen and I Don’t Know What To Do!

Dear eBay Queen:

I’m not sure what to do. I normally sell women’s clothing, and not women’s intimates. In my last shipment from my wholesaler, I received 8 bras. Four of these bras were a 38C, and the other four were a 42D. I put the items up for sale in a lot of four. I sold both lots to different people. My 42D person left me glowing positive feedback. My 38C person sent me this message:

Hi, I just returned the 4 bras you sent me as they are not the right size. The tag says they are a 38C, but there is no way they are a 38. They have to be a 36 or maybe even a 34. I expect a FULL REFUND and I am not paying your ridiculous re-stocking fee. I expect all my postage to be returned also. I have overnighted this back to you. These items are definitely not up to par as the bra is too small. My overnight charges were $34.82.

I expect a FULL REFUND of $69.99 and will report this to both eBay and PayPal to have them investigate if I do not receive the full refund. I cannot be held to pay for anything for an item that does not meet the standards of a 38C. It is your responsibility to report that these bras are not a 38C but are in fact a 36 or 34C. This bra is the only bra I’ve ever worn since I’ve become an adult. I know how these bras fit. I don’t know what you’ve done to this, but it’s not good. I’m not happy with you or your merchandise.

PS: I measured these bras from end to end and they measure 40” That is certainly not a 38!! You are a robber and dishonest your feedback from me will soon reflect that!

What should I do? Do you think I am required to refund their overnight shipping? Should I respond to this? I called eBay, and the person told me I should have the buyer open a return request. I messaged the buyer and told them to open a return request to make sure they receive their money and shipping back. They sent the following message to me:

eBay’s returns policy is ridiculous. There is no way I am going to open one of those. The last 2 times I did that eBay found in the seller’s favor because I didn’t dot my I’s and cross my t’s . I’m never going to do that. You just need to give me my money or my feedback will reflect what kind of low- life you are.”

I called eBay back, and they escalated me up to someone else, who told me we had to “wait and see” what was going to happen. They said that the buyer was using feedback extortion, and that I should not pay for the overnight shipping, ONLY what I originally paid for shipping. Do you think I’m being given good advice by eBay? What should I do? I’m a little weirded out since the item hasn’t come back yet, and if she had overnighted, it should have been here 2 days ago. What should I do? Never again will I sell bras.

KPP

Dear KPP:

Well, it appears that your buyer is a bit of a drama queen, and doesn’t know her own bra size. In this situation, I probably would not message your buyer until the items arrive. Once they arrive I would inspect them and make sure they were what you sent and in the condition you sent them. I would then message her and tell her you are refunding her purchase price of $69.99. I would not refund the overnight shipping charges she requested. If she leaves you a negative feedback I would immediately call eBay and have it removed for feedback extortion.

It is clear to me this woman needs a 40C and not a 38C. She even measured the bras, and they measured the way a 38C would measure. I would let the CS rep at eBay know this also, just in case she dings your stars for item as described.

I’m sorry you ran into a buyer that was less than kind. It seems there are a lot of people these days that think they are right and are offended by their own weight gain.

The Most Perfect Birthday.. (To Me)

Getting older freaks me out a little bit.  Sometimes I think our society believes that old people are irrelevant, and have no purpose.  That kind of scares me.  I want to be relevant. I want to have a purpose.  I think sometimes we look at some one that is older and forget that they have lived.. and have done cool, stupid, important things.  Thursday (July 9th) was my birthday.. and over this last weekend we did some of my favorite things to celebrate!

birthday19On Wednesday I celebrated my birthday with the Youth Group and sweet Alexis.  Alexis and I have the same birthday 🙂  I’m not sure why #2 picked out a dog cake for us.. but it does kind of look like our dog a little bit.

birthday18Thursday we went to see Jurassic World at the Fork and Screen.. (my favorite)  That’s all the little muffins.. it’s just hard to see them.

On June 11, 1993 Jurassic Park opened up and I was one of the first people to see that movie in the Clearwater  Mall.  I was getting ready to move back home to Kansas from Florida  and thought this movie was the break I needed between packing.  I went to the movie by myself.. and the theater was FULL.  When the raptor jumped out in the kitchen scene, I grabbed some dude’s leg next to me.  As I was sitting in the Olathe Kansas.. with all my kids surrounding me.. I thought just how far I had come, and just how lucky I was.  The first time I saw a Jurassic movie I was alone.. and moving home hoping to get married and have a family.. and look at me now!  I sat next to #4 and during the movie he leaned over and said; “If you get scared and grab my leg it will be OK mom.”

After the movie we went and shopping and looked for my pig plates I want..

pigplate2The only place besides eBay these can be found are Marshall’s or TJ Maxx.  They are Magenta by Rae Dunn.  She makes all kinds of cute stuff.  I’m not crazy about the white one.. but I want the red, green and yellow one.  I first found these in the Buckhead (Atlanta) Marshalls.  I am going to use them for my salad plates.  I got lucky and found some more in Kansas City.

After shopping we met The Man and ate dinner at my favorite Chinese restaurant.. Rice House.  I love their Springfield Cashew Chicken.

Friday The Man got us a hotel room for the night.  While he was working…

birthday15I was working at our hotel room.

birthday16AND.. I had a fantastic lunch.. shrimp cocktail, croissant, cantaloupe, Argo Tea and a pomegranate Pellegrino.

It’s amazing how much you can get done when you can focus… and don’t have any interruptions.

birthday14The Man got off work.. and we did a little furniture shopping.  Our dining room table use to be perfect for us.. and then we had #6 and well.. we need a bigger table.  I told him I wanted THIS table and he said if I played my cards right and found the top.. he would make it.  Uh.. that’s a good day right?

birthday12We ate dinner at Ted’s Cafe Escondido.  They just opened up in Overland Park.  It was really good!

birthday11Saturday morning we went to the Nelson Akins Museum.

birthday5This makes me laugh..

birhday6They LOVE this sculpture.

birthday2

birthday3

birthday9We had snacks in the Cafe

birthday5Sniped an auction for this cute little needlepoint I wanted.. and WON!

birthday7And ate dinner at my favorite Japanese Steakhouse.. Gojos.

nelsonfamily1It was the perfect Birthday.

Dear eBay Queen: I Need an eCommerce Store!

Dear eBay Queen:

I feel like I should tell you that I sell mostly on Amazon, and my Amazon-based web store.  I occasionally sell a few things on eBay.  It just seems easier for me to do it this way.  After doing a bit of research, I discovered that you sell very little on Amazon, and sell more on eBay and your web store.

I recently received an email from Amazon telling me they are going to cancel their web store service that syncs my Amazon with the web store.  Amazon will discontinue its web store services July 2016.  So, I have a year and a few months to figure out what I am going to do.  I really like this because it gave me an independent website, (not dependent on Amazon), that also syncs with my inventory on Amazon

How do you sync your web site with eBay and Amazon?  What kind of platform do you use for your website?  Please point me in the right direction.

Richard the III

Dear Richard

I read about this in Internet Retailer: https://www.internetretailer.com/2015/03/18/amazon-shutter-its-webstore-e-commerce-platform-service   There are several options out there for you to investigate to see which will be the best for your business. Most of these platforms will integrate a web store with Amazon and eBay, but there is a large learning curve to using them.

  • Brand Shop
  • Big Commerce
  • Ecwid
  • Shopify
  • Woo Commerce
  • Volusion
  • 1and1.com

The other option you have is using a service that does all the set up for you and will teach you the basics of running a store.  The drawback to these, is that they can be quite pricy.

  • Channel Advisor
  • Kyozu
  • Vendio

I do sell mostly on eBay and my website, mostly because of ease of listing.  I am hoping to start listing more on Amazon soon.  I use Woo Commerce on my website, and really like it.  Many of the items I sell do not have UPCs, which makes it hard to sell on Amazon. My Woo Commerce platform does sync with Amazon and eBay.

Here’s an article (from webretailer) that I found helpful when trying to find the right platform. http://www.webretailer.com/lean-commerce/ebay-sellers-webstore/

Dear eBay Queen:

I just won 8 auctions from the same eBay seller.  I made best offers on their items, and as soon as they countered or accepted, I paid for the items.  I received a message asking me if I am a re-seller. Why is this anyone’s business?  What happened to me just buying an item without any questions?

I’m kind of a reseller.  I buy new with tags high end luxury clothing and put it in my re-sell brick and mortar shop.  I’m not sure how to answer this.  She says that she ships in 1 day, but it’s been 3, (I haven’t answered her question,) and she hasn’t shipped yet.   There is nothing in the listing that states they do not sell to re-sellers.  Why do you think she asked that question? How do you think I should respond?  I’m a bit concerned if I tell the truth, that she will not send me the authentic Black Label Ralph Lauren jeans, plus the other Ralph Lauren stuff I purchased. Do you have a re-seller rule?

Re Sell Jane

Dear Jane:

I don't care who's buying my stuff or why, as long as they pay what I am asking for the product. Why would I care what a person is going to do with an item after I sell it?

I’ve been thinking about what her reasoning could be for asking such a question. She could be just curious, or she might have more and wants to see if you’d like to buy it.  I would probably respond with the truth.  If she doesn’t ship or sell to you she will be considered a “non selling seller” and could get in trouble with eBay.

Strange eBay Item of the Week: Item#111624499588. Grandmother’s Flower Garden is one of my favorite quilt patterns, and this one has beautiful Spring colors! Vintage Quilt Grandmother’s Garden Easter Spring Pastels SOLD: $135.00.

Apparently Stealing My Photos & Opening a Return Request Wasn’t Enough for this Buyer.

I wrote a blog a week or so ago about a buyer that purchased an item from me.. then listed it on their website and eBay using *my* photos.  I blogged about it HERE.  (You'll see that I did not put the buyer's name or website.)

Monday night the buyer left negative feedback..

stolenpic4"Ugly Yellow lining, some missing beads, she blogged & tweeted info about the sale :("

Isn't interesting that when she listed the items on eBay and her website that the lining was fine and there were no missing beads?

removednametg1See.. "Condition: New, no signs of wear, no defects, stains, holes or tears.  No missing or loose sequins or beads."

P.S. eBay removed the negative.
