4-Wheelers in the land of The Man

Last weekend a couple of my friends came over to my house on their 4-wheelers. You probably know this.. but I am not a 4-wheeler kind of girl. That didn’t stop my kids from having a good time riding them.. and me having a good time watching them.

#4 Looking so excited to go on his first 4-Wheeler ride.

He is loving this!

No.. #4 wasn’t on there this time..

This was my photo of the day… Bryan and his sweet sister riding a wheelie.

Here’s #2 riding.. see that tree in the background? I love that tree.. it reminds me of something on the African plains..

#2 is pretty happy with this 4-wheeler too.

Here’s #4 & #5 on their “4-wheelers” cute huh?

#5 would not ride on the 4-wheeler with Bryan. But he kept telling them how much faster

his was than theirs..

Here’s #2 riding #4’s out to show them who’s boss.

Here’s #2 poppin’ a wheelie (with the help of Josh)

Here’s #3 getting ready to take a ride with Bryan.

She looks a little nervous, but I think she had a good time.

I asked #4 to show me the look The Man would give if he knew he was riding a 4-wheeler

This is sort of it..

He was Helpless without Her…

I love old vintage pictures, prints and ads. I’m not sure why. I found this one the other day.. and I think it really shows my relationship with The Man. You see not only does it show a woman bossing some guy around… it shows the guy working on some electronic part.. and that’s what The Man does for a living.

I don’t think he’d really be helpless without me, but it’s nice to think he would be. I wish I could find the line from Coneheads (the movie) where Prymaat (Jane Curtain) asks Beldar (Dan Aykroyd) what he would do when she dies. It is one of my all time favorite movie quotes.

Independence Day without the Picnic

I’m not really an outdoor eater. I realize that’s a bizzare way to start a blog, but when I think of Independence Day I think of eating outside. While other kids were wanting to go on picnics and play outside… I was dreaming of air conditioning and I Dream of Jeanie reruns.

My 4th of July was perfect. I didn’t go on any picnics, and I only had to sit outside for just a little while. 🙂

Here’s our day..

While I was inside making strawberry and coconut ice cream.. the kids were lighting fireworks.

Fireworks are not my thing either. Don’t get me wrong.. I love to go to family & city displays

in parks and backyards. It just makes me one nervous momma to think my

kids are that close to gun powder.

Even with The Man supervising.

After dinner and close to dusk we headed to the Maris De Cygne.

(If you think you’ve see this river before in my blog, you have.. here)

Here’s an almost full moon, and part of downtown Ottawa Kansas.

Besides the fireworks.. it’s always good to sit on the levy with friends and

eat a little DQ. Here’s The Man, #5, #1 and a partial #2… waiting for the show.

Here they are in numerical order.. 4, 3, 2 and 1.. ( with the Kangaroo on her lap)

Do you want to know if it’s going to rain? Look at #1’s bangs.. they curl up like a kewpie doll.

#5 chillin’ in his “My Mom Rules” t-shirt.

#4 looking cute.

The Fireworks start!

By the time the show’s over and we get home.. it’s after 10pm.. but the kids want to

shoot our “night” fireworks off.

Here they are jumping so fast you can’t see them move.. let’s try this again.

That’s better..

Whoo-hoo.. here’s our night fireworks.

Here’s the Man.. taking his loot out to fire off for the kids.

We had fountains..

Sparkles..

and this cool thing.

How was your 4th of July? What did you do?

The eBay Queen Plays Beauty Shop with her Boys…

Today was not only the birthday of our nation, but it is the long awaited day where I take the time out from cooking, parenting, eBaying and blogging to cut the hair of men who live in my house.

The first one up in my chair of horrors beauty is The Man. I told #1 I wanted her to document this event for my blog. The Man nixed that idea, because “he didn’t want his picture taken”. Huh.. what a grouch. So there is no before photos to show you of his shaggy head. I should tell you I DID cut it too short.. but that’s what he get’s for refusing to come to my blog party.

He still looks cute.

Oh look.. grumpy CAN smile… oooh he’s going to be mad at me for this.

Next up.. #4. It used to be REALLY hard to cut this kids hair. He would scream, cry and in general act like a brat. He’s so much better now. I didn‘t think about taking a before photo of him. Not because he didn’t want his picture taken like his father, but his dad set me so off balance I just forgot to do it.

#4 looks good, and he was still the whole time.

Here’s #5.. flashing the Spiderman gang sign…

Whoo-hoo he’s cute!

I don’t know how to warn you about this next kid. He’s a real problem. First of all he could be a donor for “Hair Club for Men”. He has enough hair to cover Mr Cleans head 5 times over. He usually complains the ENTIRE TIME I cut his hair.

Don’t you like how this kid DOESN’T CARE that I am going to put these photos out there

for the whole world to see?

Look when he smiles he’s pretty cute…

Gee they don’t look too happy do they?

That’s more like it..
