I went to a Christmas Party and a Fight Broke Out..

Sunday we went to The Man’s parents house to celebrate Christmas with them.  I affectionately call my mother and father in law Ward and June Cleaver.  I’ve done this because The Man has always referred to his childhood as living the life of The Cleavers.. you know the show “Leave it to Beaver” ?

I don’t know if you can see Sam (he’s the cat with the green arrow above his head).

This photo reminds me of him being a “basement cat” from that cute site Icanhascheezburger.

The day started out great… the stockings were hung…

The men were relaxing.  That’s The Man and his baby brother.. oh and

#2’s there in the back and black.

Here’s #4 and his uncle.  They are pretty cute huh?

(oh and they both are single… 🙂 You’ll have to wait a while for #4 though)

It was a pretty normal family Christmas party.. trees, stockings, food, family.. until we got

to the presents.  Here’s #2.. nothing too weird here.

We have #4 opening is rocket ship.. This kid loves space.  He’s going to be

the first kid from our little town on the Moon.

Then we came to #5.. he’s been wanting one of these for a LONG time.

He loves Transformers, and this Bumblebee Voice Changer Helmet is

a perfect gift for this kid.

Wait.. what’s this? It looks like #4 has found something..

Could it be?  Did #5 leave the Bumblebee helmet UNATTENDED?

Holy Smokes.. #4 has been spotted with the helmet. That blur there is

#5 coming over to get his helmet back.  Can you see the Bumblebee

Transformer car he dropped on the floor?

He’s not happy…

He’s working  up to throwing a fit…

Peace and Order is restored and #4 gave him the helmet back.  Whew…

melt down diverted to another day.

Sometimes Teenage Boys can Be Sweet…

A few weeks ago my Micro Center 8G flash or thumb drive stopped working. ( I blogged about it here.) I called several places to see if they could recover the data. Most told me it would be $100. to $500.00 to recover it. I took it into Micro Center and they gave me a lecture about “backing up my drives” and “how it would be $500.00 for them to open a ticket to look at it”. Needless to say Micro Center won’t be getting much of my business.. if I wanted to be talked down to by a teenage nerd I could ask #2 for advice. Which leads me to this..

That #2 he’s been trying to get my flash drive to work. He puts into different computers, yells at the drive when it doesn’t work, prays about it and talks about sacrificing chickens. 😉 The other day, he sat up right in the chair and said… “I haven’t tried it in the Vista computer!” He made a few weird gestures, closed his eyes, prayed, then made the sign of the cross (we aren’t Catholic) and plugged it in.

The light came on!

Holy Smokes.. and it STAYED ON..

The Vista computer is hooked up to THE TV (you know the TV I talked

about here and here).

We held our breath and started moving files.. a few at a time.

After 2 hours of holding our breath it was done.. I had

all my photos back that I loved (and didn’t back up).

After that ordeal I gave my favorite chicken sacrificing, know

it all teenage boy a kiss.

Oh.. and he gave me one back.. While he might be a know-it-all,

he never has a problem hugging his mother. He’s good

like that. That kid on #2’s back is, #3 she’s a good one too :).

*** We unplugged the flash drive when we were done, and plugged it in again.. it never started back up..

Harmony.. it’s not just for Musicians

This was a crazy day.. It was suppose to be a calm.. tranquil day where I accomplished everything I wanted to get done that was on my list. Do you think that happened? NO not with 5 kids, 3 new kittens, too many degus, VBS that starts in 3 days and a week long over night Mission Stay that I planned that starts in 10 days. (If you said yes.. you need to really read my blog more)..

BUT.. I’m here to show you some harmony that did happen in my home.

Just to prove the Degu’s lay around on the kids.. Here’s one of the degus’ laying on #2 while he surf’s the internet.

Here’s my definition of pet harmony.. 2 kitties right next to the degu.
