Just one Girl.. and her Dance Costumes

dance costume, blue ballerina

#3 has been dancing since she was a baby.  Here are her costumes this year.

Blue Ballerina

This is her jazz costume.. I think it’s super cute.

This is her tap costume.. they are dancing to “Ain’t going down till the sun comes up”

#3 isn’t crazy about this costume.

She REALLY dislikes these “spats” that cover her tap shoes

This is her Dance Team outfit.  I think she looks adorable..

She’s not crazy about the shorts.

This is her solo costume.. along with her brothers.

Recital day is just 11 days away.. can you tell we are excited?

Sometimes Teenage Boys can Be Sweet…

A few weeks ago my Micro Center 8G flash or thumb drive stopped working. ( I blogged about it here.) I called several places to see if they could recover the data. Most told me it would be $100. to $500.00 to recover it. I took it into Micro Center and they gave me a lecture about “backing up my drives” and “how it would be $500.00 for them to open a ticket to look at it”. Needless to say Micro Center won’t be getting much of my business.. if I wanted to be talked down to by a teenage nerd I could ask #2 for advice. Which leads me to this..

That #2 he’s been trying to get my flash drive to work. He puts into different computers, yells at the drive when it doesn’t work, prays about it and talks about sacrificing chickens. 😉 The other day, he sat up right in the chair and said… “I haven’t tried it in the Vista computer!” He made a few weird gestures, closed his eyes, prayed, then made the sign of the cross (we aren’t Catholic) and plugged it in.

The light came on!

Holy Smokes.. and it STAYED ON..

The Vista computer is hooked up to THE TV (you know the TV I talked

about here and here).

We held our breath and started moving files.. a few at a time.

After 2 hours of holding our breath it was done.. I had

all my photos back that I loved (and didn’t back up).

After that ordeal I gave my favorite chicken sacrificing, know

it all teenage boy a kiss.

Oh.. and he gave me one back.. While he might be a know-it-all,

he never has a problem hugging his mother. He’s good

like that. That kid on #2’s back is, #3 she’s a good one too :).

*** We unplugged the flash drive when we were done, and plugged it in again.. it never started back up..

Daddy’s Little Girl

You know my husband (affectionately referred to as “The Man”) is

really a good dad. He makes sure his kids have coats, (me not so much.. it’s a real

problem with me. I hardly ever wear a coat and I hate carrying my kids coats. Does

that sort of explain my issue?), and he makes sure we all have a roof over our

heads (I do care about this more than the coats) 🙂 Chris Rock has a whole thing

he does about how Dad’s get no respect… and Mom’s get all the love… what does Daddy

get? “The big piece of chicken”.

That being said.. I love this photo.

I think he’s praying here.. that she doesn’t give him that face. He’ll have to say

“yes” if she does.

When’s he going to smile?

That’s not really a smile.. but I’ll take it, because I have this photo

Did I tell you I love this picture?

American Girl Fashion Show.. comes to Overland Park, Kansas

I went with #3 to the American Girl Fashion Show put on by the Junior League.

#3 is in the middle.. she went with her 3 friends.

#3 and her doll in their matching outfits.

Here she’s feeding some lunch meat to her doll. Notice her doll is in

it’s own super cool chair.

During the intermission of the show we checked out the dolls they had up

for a raffle. This is the new doll her name is Rebecca Rubin. I think she’s from

1914 or somewhere close to that..

A just like you doll with all the hair accessories.

Here’s #5 with her favorite doll up for raffle.

Here’s a better look at the doll seat. Pretty nifty huh? Wish I had one of those

when I was a kid.

Here are the girls 3 dolls. Looking FABULOUS!

The girls at the table with their dolls.

A little pink juice in a champange glass.

We went shopping and hung out at Starbucks after the Fashion Show.

Who knew a Fashion Show would wear them out?
