My Bee Balm… is Cross Pollinating
This is Bee Balm. I love the stuff. I love the way it looks and the way it smells. It smells all mint-y and sage-ish. But this Bee Balm.. this hot pink stuff was not planted in my garden by me.
Last year #1 found this purple bee balm growing wild in our back 20 acres. She dug some of it up and planted it next to my original bee balm…
(my original bee balm.. it's kind of a bubble gum pink color)
See the short bubble gum pink bee balm.. that's the original stuff. (Just ignore that BIG WEED…) The tall stuff all around it is the purple from the back field and the new stuff, the hot pink.
I don't understand how the cross pollination happened, why the stuff is so tall. But I love it!
What’s the Story Morning Glory?
Morning Glory flower with the sun shining through it.
A few years ago the man bought me this gazebo thing. It took us 2 years to figure out where to put it and a year to figure out what to plant on it.
I’m not sure if you notice something wrong here…
#1 thought morning glories would be a great thing to plant on the gazebo. In March we bought seeds, planted them in the house and let them grow. In the spring we planted them outside and only one side took off..
They still look beautiful to me.. maybe next year we can get
all three sides to grow and look fabulous!
Poppy.. Oh Poppy Where are you?
My favorite flower is a poppy. I love the colors..
I love the weird leaves that seem prickly, but aren’t.
Have you ever seen the poppy pod up-close?
It looks pretty cool, green with a funny red and purple.
See the “funny hairs”?
I love how the leaves and stems look like they could take on a
tornado.. and the flowers seem so fragile.
Here’s one that is about to open.
Don’t you love them? I do..
Why didn’t this Sell?
I’m not exactly sure where I bought these things. I believe they were in a box of stuff I bought at Strickers Auction. I’ve had a variety of people tell me they were different things..
Some have said they are upholstery pins.
I thought they looked like fancy push pins.
You know the kind you used for bulletin boards? What do you think they are?
Do I have them totally categorized wrong?
