I Can’t Believe This Sold: Burlap Wall Art Naked Woman

Have you ever been out hunting for eBay junk and found something so weird you thought.. “That’s just strange enough that SOMEONE would buy it!”

Several years ago the Man took me Garage Saling.. (I love it when he does that).. We were down in the Mission Hills area of Kansas City.  We stopped at this garage sale and I saw this hanging from the homes gutter.

naked girl long braided hair

It’s fabulously strange isn’t it?  The back of her head is raised with

half of a styrofoam ball or something that makes the head

curve out like that.

The hair on it felt real, and was braided.  The backing was a odd burlap-jute type fabric.  It had 2

of those terra cotta disks.  Her body was made of yarn that looked like it was “rug hooked” on the burlap.

Here’s the label for it.  I think I paid a couple of dollars for it…

put it up for auction and it sold for over $60.  What’s the

strangest thing you ever sold on eBay?

Going to see Santa

Every year since #1 was ten or so we have gone to Crown Center to see Santa. If you are not from Kansas City, or you've never been there.. you should go at least once. It truly is a magical place at Christmas.

Here's #4 and #5 waiting to go into the Crayola Land

play place to see Santa.

He looks a little nervous.. I wonder if he's been good this year?

These two have been really bad. Just look at them!

This place is awesome.. it has all kinds of things for the

kids to do while the parents wait in line for the kids to

see Santa. Here's #4 getting ready to slide.

I thought #3 wouldn't play on the stuff this year since

she was in a "serious" dress. But that didn't stop her and

her American Girl Doll.

Holy Smokes.. after a few minutes of playing, we had our first

spotting of Santa! They boys immediately want to get in line.

Here we have #2, (holding everyone's shoes) #5, and #4. They are

eye-balling Santa.. I love #5's hands. They were REALLY checking him out.

I don't think they said a single word while we stood in line and waited.

When we finally got to the front of the line, there wasn't any

hesitation this year. They just hopped right up on his lap!

I'm not sure what this kid is telling him, but I can guess it has

something to do with Transformers, Spiderman, and Nintendo.

#2 told me Santa was surprised to see someone "so old" on his lap. It's pretty bad to be an old has-been at thirteen! #2 said he asked for a ear piece for his phone.. and Legos. (what a combo)

#3 asked for American Girl doll stuff.

#4 asked for 2 new Nintendo remotes, a car that drives on the walls, and a hover car.

I asked #5 again what he asked for from Santa.. and he gave me this look..

"I'm not telling you"

The Ghost of Christmas Past.. or at Least 2008

Every year we go to Crown Center to celebrate #2's birthday and to see that fat dude in a red suit. I also take this opportunity to take a good Christmas Card photo of the kids. We are heading down there very soon to do this years photo. I was looking through my photos from last year and found some interesting things.

I have no idea why #4 has his tongue out.. but The Man thought it was pretty funny.

Even #1 thought it was funny.

Here's #3, #5, #4 and #2 with the big man.. Aren't they cute?

#1 won't sit on Santa's lap. She prefers to sip her coffee.

I wonder if she knows coffee will stunt her growth?

This was NOT the Christmas card picture.. any idea why?

Neither was this one.

After looking at these photos.. I don't think I sent out Christmas cards

in 2008. Maybe 2009 Christmas photos will be better… 🙂

On the Way to Kansas City We Saw Superman?

The Man and I were headed back to Kansas City (from our trip to Saint Louis) when we saw what we thought was a guy playing a ukulele in a Superman costume with something white on his face. We knew THAT COULDN’T be what we saw, so The Man took the next exit thinking he would flip a U-Turn in the grass so we could get a better look at the guy.

I-70 has those wire things so you can’t turn.. So we drove….

and drove…

and drove….

8 miles to the next exit ramp.

Only to drive about 7.5 miles back to see this:

Huh.. it looks like a guy in a blue suit.. let’s see if we can make that clearer..

.. not so good let’s see if we can do better than that..

Vindication! We maybe old.. but we really did see Superman playing a ukulele on I-70..

and he did have a white beard! The only way this photo could be better? If he was holding

Traveling Batman…
